The blacksmith Francis Martin has learned his profession in the marechalery's school of Brussels.
He has settle in 1986 and always tarjeted a career in horse's sphere.Since ever, he is in love with large western spaces and interested in ethologic methods that are developed in the USA.
Since his first steps as a working man, he is very concerned by american blacksmith technics.
Also seduced by real american horses such as quarter horses, appaloosas, paint horses..., he discovers the natural riding and ethologic methods and understands right away their opportunity for horses and for horses professionnals
Especially for blacksmiths..
Unfortunately because of health, Francis has to quit his blacksmith fonction (2002)
Owner of 4 quarter horse broodmares, ( amoung them, a bucksking of King Ranch origin, a filly of the great roping champion Smokeys Gray, and a palomino quarter horse stallion), he decides to start horse breeding.)
His tarjet?
He wants to obtain quarter horses, and half quarter for leisure.
With the quarter horse stallion and the mare of roping origin, he wants to select descendants of ranch, cattle and roping quarter horses type .
In 2001 and 2002, the breeding gets 100% of birth and they target the same result for 2003...Nos so bad to begin!
Getting specialised in ethologic methods, Francis stripps and trains his own foals. The regularity and the good results brings him to propose his services to other horse owners, which are very satisfied of his job.
Mainwhile, Francis continues to farm 15 ha he owns in Eyragues (North Bouches du Rhöne, France), which allows him to increase the quantity of horses in board.
Growing hay, lucern and cereals, Francis and Beatrix Martin make all they can so that Martin's Family Farm can become the most important place of western riding in France.
For the future, Francis plans to organise special information's journeys during which he will explain and show ethologic methods and allow to resolve easily daily problems of horses owners ( get into the van, work on the ground, tripping, basic communication, etc.), and teach to ones horse to accept blacksmith's and verinariesinterventions...
